News: Lagos Government Partners Akwaaba to Strengthen Destination Marketing and Cultural Tourism Drive

The Lagos State Government is intensifying efforts to position the State as a leading travel and cultural destination, as demonstrated by a meeting and strategic engagement of Lagos State Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Bopo Oyekan-Ismaila, with the Chief Executive Officer of AKWAABA Africa Travel Market, Ambassador Ikechi Uko, held on Tuesday, 27th January 2026.

The meeting which had in attendance the Director, Monuments Management Department, Mr Ladejobi Ibrahim, and Staff of Tourism Promotion, Mr Adejuwon Badejo and Mrs Opemipo Oluwa, focused on strengthening collaboration in destination marketing, tourism development, and the effective use of AKWAABA’s globally respected platforms to enhance Lagos’ visibility and attract international investors, tourists, and industry stakeholders.

AKWAABA Africa Travel Market remains one of Africa’s foremost tourism events, convening governments, industry players, and key stakeholders to promote African travel, hospitality, and cultural exchange. Over the years, the platform has played a pivotal role in projecting Lagos and other African destinations to global audiences.
